One favorite is Don Carter State Park, which offers a beach, a playground for children, and a boat ramp. There are also kayaks, aqua cycles, and stand-up paddleboard rentals. Old Federal State Park also has two beach areas with life jacket stations for kids and a small playground. River Forks Park is right near a playground and picnic pavilion, but it can also get a bit crowded (you can stroll to another pavilion nearby).

Smith Mountain Lake
