A visit to Costa Rica with kids is an adventure you’ll never forget! This Central American country is designed to channel your family’s inner-daredevil. Whether its tackling extreme sports, learning about its native wildlife, or trying a new type of cuisine, you’ll find plenty of exciting things to do in Costa Rica with kids! Take children four and over ziplining through Manuel Antonio Park at El Santuario, an adventure park featuring the longest zip line in Costa Rica! Between hanging bridges and tree platforms, even adults will find their fair share of challenges while completing this obstacle course. Families with varying ages can also try Rainforest Adventure Tour, with options for different skill levels. Some combine ziplining with waterfall climbing and even aerial trams! Of course, to relax, Costa Rica also boasts peaceful outdoor activities. Sunbathe at Tamarindo beach, ideal for children learning to surf in shallow waters.

If you’re more in the mood for a sweet treat, don’t worry! Dig into homemade chocolate on a real cacao plantation during a behind-the-scenes Don Olivio Chocolate Tour. Or, take a more historical approach by exploring kid-friendly exhibits at the Choco Museo. (Don’t worry, you can also take a chocolate-making class to sample products too!) Plus, after a few meals at local restaurants, you’ll realize Costa Rica’s fascinating culture has plenty of history accompanying it. At Tortuguero National Park, for example, follow a ranger as they explain turtles’ significance to the area.  Then, take a tour of the Sloth Sanctuary, where kids can get up-close and personal with the cuddly animals! The Butterfly Conservatory is also a fantastic educational opportunity to learn about native insects. Don’t forget about the famous Flamingo Beach, aptly named for its beautiful pink sand!
