Other Things To Know
You are not expected to tip at restaurants in Italy. A service charge is sometimes added to the bill, ranging from 1 to 3 Euros, or 10% – 15%. If the service is exceptional, it is okay to give a good tip, although this is never expected.
Florence is a small city and generally a safe place where street-smart rules apply. Avoid wandering around town alone, late at night, particularly in the Santa Maria Novella area. Stick to main roads and avoid narrow back alleys.
