Why Families Will Love Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas

Choose the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for a family vacation in Las Vegas! Though it may surprise some parents –– yes, a trip to Las Vegas CAN be family-friendly. When my father-in-law moved to Las Vegas in late 2017, we knew that we’d soon be making the trip with our young girls to visit him. Upon his suggestion, we stayed a few nights at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for a family vacation in April 2018.

Without a doubt, this resort, located in Summerlin, about 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, was far more kid-friendly than most hotels directly on the Strip. Between kid-friendly amenities, a fantastic location, and time to wind down, it was definitely the right choice. Families looking for a kid-friendly stay in Las Vegas may want to consider staying in a quiet location. That’s why we chose the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for a family vacation. Located at the base of beautiful sandstone mountains, a stay here is sure to be a luxurious adventure. For one, it’s located just a little off the Las Vegas Strip. This means it’s still near all the action but not in the thick of it.

Naturally, the general aura at the resort is more subdued than the typical craziness you’d find on the Las Vegas Strip. Sure, it has a large, full-service casino, a dance club, and a bunch of bars throughout. After all, it’s still very much a Vegas casino hotel. But the Red Rock’s off-Strip location certainly renders it a more quiet and low-key alternative. It’s also attractive, clean, and modern.

Accommodations for Families

Accommodations for families are plentiful at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa. Choose from rooms with one king or two queen beds, featuring fantastic views of the Las Vegas skyline. There’s also a choice of various one or two-bedroom suites. Some have two queens or one king bed, plus a separate living room area with space for dining. If you really want to feel like Las Vegas royalty, you can even consider booking one of the penthouses. Some are desert-themed, taking inspiration from Vegas’s stunning red rock landscape. If you have a large family, or if you’re on an intergenerational trip and need lots of rooms, the villas have you covered. Some even have their own private pools!

Kid-Friendly Amenities & Activities at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa

With most Vegas hotels, the only real kid-friendly amenity you may find is the hotel’s pool. During our visit, the incredibly large and well-designed pool was rather empty, perfect for our girls to splash around in. Other kid-friendly amenities include the Regal Red Rock Stadium 16 & IMAX, a state-of-the-art movie theater on-site. Next door, there’s Red Rock Lanes. What kids wouldn’t love a round or two of early morning (8 am) or late night (2 am) bowling on their vacation? My daughter had a blast here!

In case your kids feel left out by the 21 and over casino games, just take them over to the Red Rock’s huge arcade, Cyber Quest! Kids can rack up points during their play that can then be traded in for toys and prizes.

Finally, the crème de la crème during a Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for a family vacation is Kids Quest, a pay-by-the-hour child care center for ages 6 months to 12 years. Trust me, it’s SO much more than just babysitting! There are iPad stations, art projects, a toddler and baby area, a sports section, and a “play cube” climbing structure. We dropped our girls there for a few hours one afternoon, while we gambled. They absolutely loved it. In fact, I think my older child deemed the Red Rock her absolute favorite hotel! Kid’s activities are an important component of this hotel review of Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas for families.

On-Site Dining for Families at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa

On-site dining is another perk of staying at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for a family vacation. Besides offering all these kid-friendly activities, the hotel has kids’ palettes covered –– even picky eaters! There are several family-friendly sit-down spots, including a casual Italian restaurant, Osteria Fiorella, and a child-friendly BBQ spot called Lucille’s Smokehouse. If waiter service is too much of a headache with your kids, the resort’s “quick eats” food court section is in the back of its casino.

Fortunately, it is also close to all of the above activities. Plus, it includes pretty much any kid-friendly food option you could think of. There’s also an on-site bakery for after your meal. Parents will appreciate The Yard House, which has over 130 beers on tap. Finally, if you don’t feel like waiting around for food, the hotel also offers an in-room dining option.

Other Things to Do Near Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for Families

Looking for other things to do near the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for a family vacation? You’re in luck! Conveniently located near some of the best family attractions in Vegas, this hotel is perfect for families who want to explore the city. Just across the street from the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, you’ll find the City National Arena, featuring family fun such as ice skating or watching the Vegas Golden Knights practice.

The Red Rock is also located right next to Downtown Summerlin, a newly built outdoor mall with plenty more kid-friendly dining, as well as family-friendly shopping and programming. There’s a “Luckey Climber” play structure there that my girls loved! If you’re willing to venture out a little, other attractions nearby include Boca Park or the Nevada Ballet Theater.
