The check-in process at The Chicago, Langham is very quick and easy. While you speak with hotel staff, kids can look out floor-to-ceiling windows at the Chicago River and surrounding skyline. The Langham, Chicago’s standard check-in time starts at 3:00 PM, but accommodations for an earlier check-in may be made upon request and if available. The standard check-out is at 12:00 PM. If your room isn’t quite ready when you arrive, the hotel will hold your bags, while you explore the city or head to the pool. Once your room is available, staff will meet you at your room with your bags. This shimmering 67-foot pool will certainly be a highlight for kids, especially with the twinkling lights overhead and floor-to-ceiling windows letting in natural light. While kids enjoy the pool, parents can cozy up in one of the heated relaxation chairs or the adjacent hot tub. Parents or other adults must accompany children in the pool area. There are pool showers and changing rooms located in the wellness center, including family changing facilities

Chuan Spa

Parents who need a few rejuvenating touches while in Chicago will appreciate the Chuan Spa. Here, you can relax and unwind in the heart of the city. From massages and facials to full body treatments, you will find exceptional services in a beautiful and peaceful environment. Services are only available for adults. With an exception for those between 16 and 18, if accompanied by an adult.

Health Club

Stay active while visiting Chicago through the use of the Health Club. Located in the wellness center, the Health Club offers a modern fitness room, as well as daily group fitness classes. Here, you will find everything you need for your daily routine, including a medicine ball, Peloton©, cardio-vascular machines, and more. Day-use lockers are also available nearby. Anyone under the age of 18 using the Health Club must be accompanied by an adult.

Cinema Suite

The Cinema Suite is available for use by all guests and seats up to twelve people. Reservations must be made in advance of use. This chic cinema offers a 111-inch screen, plush seating, and a private dining menu upon request. On-site Dining

While staying at The Langham, Chicago, families have exceptional dining options, including the opportunity for private dining. Firstly, Travelle offers an elevated approach to American fare. Using seasonal, high-quality ingredients, Travelle is available for breakfast and lunch, as well as a dinner service at the bar (and will soon be launching a pre-fixe dinner tasting menu in the private dining area). Plus, it’s a great spot to grab evening drinks, enjoy a weekend brunch, and get a to-go meal. Parents can dine on scrumptious menu items like Grand Maine Lobster Roll and Butter Chicken Curry. 

Then, the Pavilion is famed for Langham’s classic Afternoon Tea experience. Munch on savories, scones, and sweets, while enjoying traditional English teas. In fact, the Langham even offers their own special black tea blend (highly recommended!). Here, kids can enjoy their own children’s blend or a hot chocolate. This elegant experience is ideal for mother-daughter trips or multigenerational visits to Chicago. Certainly, parents will appreciate that kid-friendly menus are available in Travelle, Pavilion, and the Private Kitchen.

Just outside the hotel entrance, you can find an access point to the Chicago River Walk. From here, stroll along the river enjoying the sights and sounds of Chicago. Just over 1 mile long, the Chicago River Walk is a wonderful option for families looking to stay active or take in some of the best views of Chicago’s architecture. It’s also a prime spot for joggers. Seasonally, you can also find many events and places to dine along the river walk too.

Magnificent Mile along Michigan Avenue 

Those looking to shop in Chicago can’t miss the Magnificent Mile. In fact, it’s one of the largest shopping opportunities in the Midwest, offering three indoor shopping malls, as well as several of the world-renown department stores and luxury boutiques. This is also where American Girl Place is located (just 1.1 miles from the hotel). Luckily, those staying at The Langham, Chicago do not have far to go to reach Michigan Avenue, it’s just a block away! Indulging in a little shopping or strolling along the Magnificent Mile is certainly one of the best things to do in Chicago for families.

Grant Park, Millennium Park, & Maggie Daley Park

Less than half a mile from The Langham, Chicago, families can easily walk to Grant Park, home to Chicago favorites like Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, and the Art Institute of Chicago. A Millennium Park, families can let kids play in the grass for a bit or sit and have a snack at one of the many picnic tables. Afterward, see the stunning art installations within the park, including the world-famous Cloud Gate (affectionately called “the Bean”). During the winter, you can also find an ice skating rink just below the Bean. After exploring Millenium Park, walk toward Lake Michigan and you’ll find Maggie Daley Park, offering more space to play, as well as other family activities, like a play garden and rock climbing.


Less than a mile from the hotel, families will adore spending an afternoon at the Art Institute of Chicago. Located in Chicago’s iconic Grant Park, the Art Institute of Chicago is a fantastic place to take in a wide variety of collections, including impressionism, cityscapes, fashion, and more. Options vary depending on the time of your visit, but favorites like My Fair Lady, Jersey Boys, and Fiddler on the Roof have all had their time in the spotlight here. Generally, shows are limited to those over the age of 5 (exceptions can be made based on the show, however).

Navy Pier

Less than 1.5 miles from the hotel (about a 20-25 minute walk), Navy Pier is a must-stop for families visiting Chicago. Families traveling with young children will also appreciate that Navy Pier is home to the Chicago Children’s Museum.
