While snow tubing may not be the main attraction here, many resorts offer their own snow tubing hills that you can enjoy during a bigger family ski vacation in Pennsylvania. Here are some of the best ski resorts with snow tubing in The Poconos for families with kids!

Camelback Mountain Resort

Camelback Mountain Resort is one of the best places to go snow tubing in the Poconos with kids. Located in Tannersville, around two hours from NYC, this popular ski and snowboarding area welcomes all ages. Winter will be well spent on nearby Camelback Mountain. With over 40 lanes to choose from, kids can have a blast snow tubing. This fun activity is even available at night, where you’ll see the lanes aglow thanks to Galactic snow tubing. Magic carpets bring you up and down, and sessions last around two hours. Riders must be 44” tall to ride alone. Skiing is also available, with terrain for all ages including beginners.

Many families visiting here choose to stay at Camelback Lodge and Indoor Water Park less than three miles away, which doubles the fun for the entire family! Choose between Deluxe Suites, two-bedroom suites, or even larger condos when booking your accommodation. At the hotel, families can also enjoy 13 waterslides at Aquatopia, the indoor water park. Kids will love rides like Venus Slydetrap, the wave pool, and other fun attractions.

Blue Mountain Resort

Palmerton, PA

Enjoy your family’s next winter getaway in The Poconos at Blue Mountain Resort! As one of the best snow tubing resorts near NYC for families, this winter destination is located in Palmerton. Here, go snow tubing on some of the longest and fastest lanes in Pennsylvania. Serviced by three different lifts, the Snow Tubing Park has 46 different lanes for kids, plus single or double tubes so families can stick together! Sessions are three hours long and begin every hour on the hour. Kids will also love the Winter Adventure Camp, a multi-week program for ages 6 through 14. After a long day, stop by Slopeside Pub and Grill to warm up by the fireplace! 

There are multiple hotels near this family-friendly ski resort, but Woodstone Country Club & Lodge is one of the closest and best for kids. Choose between accommodations like suites with a king-sized bed, private balcony, and Jacuzzi or smaller guest rooms. Families will find lots to do at Blue Mountain Resort!

Bear Creek Mountain Resort

Lehigh Valley, PA

Bear Creek Mountain Resort is a winter paradise for families. Located in the Lehigh Valley, skiers, snow tubers, and other winter sports enthusiasts all flock to this small but mighty mountain is one of the best places to go snow tubing in the Poconos with kids. For snow tubing, sessions run every Monday through Friday night and Saturday or Sunday during the afternoon and evening. During the week, families can also arrange group snow tubing sessions. Kids must be at least six years old to snow tube. 

Skiers will also love hitting the slopes on Bear Mountain, since beginners have three terrain parks to choose from: Cascade, Black Bear, and Family Park. Private lessons are available for kids four and up, and families can also take a private group lesson together. Skiers between ages eight and fifteen can hang out at the Bear Creek Polar Bear Club for two-hour lessons in small groups. Afterward, head back to the hotel to hit the indoor pool or hot tub. Parents can visit the fitness center or Mountain Shoppe. Rooms at Bear Creek Resort range from single guest rooms with double beds to loft suites and deluxe suites with two queen beds. Most have mountain views, ideal for enjoying ski season. 

Montage Mountain Resorts

Scranton, PA

Located right outside of Scranton, this family-friendly ski resort is a really popular skiing, snow tubing, and snowboarding destination for East Coast families. Experience some of the fastest lanes in Pennsylvania in the busy Montage Mountain tubing area. There’s a main tubing area for kids over 42”, and a kiddie tubing area for kids between 32-41.” A magic carpet lift provides an easy way to get back up the mountain, so this is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. 

Skiing terrain ranges from beginner to expert, including the second steepest slope on the East Coast – “White Lightning.” The Montage Mountain Ski School offers private lessons for kids ages seven and up, and can teach a group of six members from the same family. Confident skiers should test their skills by training on the competitive Montage Mountain ski racing team! As one of the best family ski resorts in Pennsylvania, Montage Mountain also showcases night skiing and airboarding for families to enjoy. A lot of families choose to stay in nearby Scranton, around 15 minutes away, like at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area

East Stroudsburg, PA

Spend your winter vacation at the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area! Located in East Stroudsburg, it’s also considered one of the best places to ski in Pennsylvania with kids! Visit the huge snow tubing area, which features two surface lifts to take you to the top. There are single tubes, as well as child-tandem tubes for kids who want to ride together. Children must be at least four years old to snow tube. 

Younger skiers and snowboarders will also feel welcome here. Invest in a beginner’s package, including group lessons for kids six and up. Skiing group lessons are available for ages three and up, and snowboarding for ages four and up. Private lessons are available for kids ages six and up. They have a wide range of children’s programs to explore. Lodging is separate but nearby at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort, which has an indoor pool. Families can also find ski & stay packages nearby!

Jack Frost-Big Boulder

One of the best places to go snow tubing in the Poconos with kids is JFBB! Comprising two different ski areas, Jack Frost Resort and Big Boulder, this winter wonderland offers a thrilling and unforgettable experience for families seeking some snowy fun.

Now bigger than ever, the resort’s bubly Tube Park has fun features like glow lights and new colorful tubes. Each rider must be at least 4 years old and a minimum of 42”. Every Saturday at 4 PM, families can also enjoy complimentary s’mores and make friends with other guests at the resort. Families can also enroll little ones at the Jack Frost Ski and Ride School, which is one of the best ski resorts for beginners in the Poconos. The school offers private skiing or snowboarding lessons for ages three and up at both Jack Frost and Big Boulder. Night skiing is also available at Big Boulder, and the ski school at Jack Frost has an Adaptive Skiing Program too. Jack Frost and Big Boulder are owned by Vail Resorts and are part of the Epic Pass. Purchasing an Epic Pass or Epic Day pass offers the best value for skiing and riding at Vail Resorts’ properties.

Located in the northern part of the Poconos, this small ski and snowboarding resort has 18 trails and 3 magic carpet lifts, offering families a quaint and calm experience.

Snow tubing is available on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter and more frequently during holidays or winter break when kids aren’t in school. Kids must be 42” tall even if they’re snow tubing with an adult. Also available on weekends and holidays, kids six and older can also take beginner ski and snowboarding lessons. There are also private and semi-private lessons. Though there isn’t any lodging on the mountain, some families prefer to stay at the nearby Woodloch Resort.

During colder weather, visit the hotel’s snow tubing hills in the lakefront area for an epic ride down. They make their own snow, so you can take advantage of this winter activity regardless of the weather. Families can also snowshoe around the lake or explore the wilderness on the hotel’s Nature Trail. Don’t forget about ice skating on the lake or showing off your skills at the Winter Olympics! When you want to warm up, the hotel has temperature-controlled indoor and outdoor pools, including kids-only splash pools. You can also visit The Indoor Splash Zone or Forest Indoor Playground. Woodloch offers a wide range of organized kids activities. Children 10 and under can hang out at the Boomer’s Kids’ Club Room. There is a fitness center and spa available at the hotel’s sister property.

Set on a sprawling property in Skytop, this charming resort is one of the best winter hotels near NYC for families, with activities such as ice skating, skiing, and more. Accommodations vary across multiple buildings. Enjoy standard guest rooms in The Lodge, larger suites with fireplaces and a private balcony in The Inn, and four-bedroom cottages. 

In the winter, Skytop Lodge offers a beautiful view of the snow-covered mountains. Against this scenic backdrop, families can enjoy snow tubing on the hotel’s hill. Riders must be at least 4 years old and 40” tall. Kids can also enjoy snowshoeing or ice skating at the indoor pavilion or on Skytop Lake! Skytop Lodge also offers a private slope for skiing, perfect for children and beginners. For a one-of-a-kind experience, spend the afternoon ice fishing on the 72-acre frozen lake! Indoor activities include the hotel’s pool, which is perfect for warming up after playing in the snow. Parents can visit the spa, The Nest at Skytop Lodge.

White Lightning Snow Tubing

Families searching for a no-frills snow tubing experience in The Poconos can check out White Lightning Snow Tubing. Located in East Stroudsburg, it’s not technically a ski resort, and it’s usually frequented by guests staying at Pocono Mountain Villas by Exploria Resorts. However, if you’re looking for a quick experience and only want to go snow tubing, it may be a great choice for you. Plus, since they make the snow themselves, you can find snow tubing available as late as mid-March. 

Open from December through March, the Winter Fun Center offers the perfect place to go snow tubing in The Poconos with kids. Alongside 5 different chutes, the center also has a magic carpet to take you to and from the top of the hill. No family or double tubes are available. Kids need to be 4 years or older and at least 40” tall to snow tube.
