Allegiant has an excellent safety record. It’s also a great choice for families because of its low fares. You can even save more by booking your flight, hotel, and car rental all in one go through Allegiant Vacations. Flying on Allegiant Airlines with kids can be a great experience for the whole family. The airline offers many non-stop flights to destinations across the United States, making it a convenient option for families traveling with young children. Most Allegiant Airlines flights are non-stop since the airline rarely offers connecting flights.

  • A few non-stop flight options on Allegiant Airlines include popular destinations such as San Diego, Orlando, Portland, Phoenix, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale.
  • Allegiant also has several non-stop seasonal routes to destinations like El Paso, Texas, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

If you’re planning a trip and want to know if Allegiant offers direct/non-stop service to your destination, check their website.

Allegiant Airlines offers several benefits for families traveling with children. Keep reading to learn more!

Early Boarding

If you’re wondering: does Allegiant Airlines offer early boarding for families? You’re in luck! Families with car seats or strollers can board right after active military members.

Lap Seat

Wondering about the Allegiant Airlines lap seat policy for kids? One perk is how they allow kids under the age of 2 to fly for free, as long as they sit on an adult’s lap.

If you’re wondering, do babies fly free internationally on Allegiant Airlines? Keep reading! Since Allegiant Airlines doesn’t offer international flights, most families searching for Allegiant Airlines airline policies only have to worry about domestic options.

Child Fares

Additionally, each child over the age of 2 will need their own seat on the plane. You can purchase a child’s ticket at a discounted rate.

Unaccompanied Minors

Allegiant Airlines does not offer an “Unaccompanied Minors” program.

Bassinets

Bassinets are typically not available when flying Allegiant Airlines with kids.

Child Car Seat

Per the Allegiant Airlines car seat policy, the airline requires children under two with their own seats (i.e., not infant-in-arms) to have an FAA-approved safety seat. You can either bring your car seat or purchase one from Frontier Airlines.

Allegiant Air has officially approved the use of the Jet Kids BedBox™. The Jet Kids BedBox™ is a compact and travel-friendly bed for use on planes and automobiles, and it also offers storage space and a fun way for kids to roll around the airport!

Baby Care

Are you wondering about baby bottles or baby food on Allegiant Airlines? Unfortunately, baby care is usually not available.

Baggage/Carry-On Luggage

Luggage allowance is a common question among parents. Thankfully, Allegiant has clear guidelines as to what is allowed for children:

  • If children travel for free (lap seat/infant-in-arms), they do not have their own baggage allowance (in addition to what is allowed for their ticketed adult). Thus, any baggage for the child counts as part of the adult’s baggage allowance.
  • Children traveling on their ticket follow the standard baggage allowance, and are likewise allowed one carry-on/one personal item onboard.

Parents won’t be charged a fee for checking a stroller or a car seat. Families can also use the stroller in the airport, and the gate agent will check it at the gate.

Food Policy

Kid-friendly snacks are available for purchase during your flight.

Special Toys and Games/Entertainment Options

Be aware that there are no in-flight entertainment options available on Allegiant flights. So if you’re traveling with young children, make sure to bring along some activities to keep them occupied during your flight.

What Documents Do I Need To Travel With Kids?

While not strictly Allegiant Airlines’ policies for kids, you may still be wondering, do you need identification for a child or babies to fly? There are a few different documents your children may need, as U.S. citizens, to travel (if your kids have different citizenship, please refer to the rules and regulations for their country of citizenship).

What Documents Do I Need for US Domestic Travel with Kids?

  • Generally, no ID is needed: Babies and kids (or, those under the age of 18) do not need to present any identification for domestic travel within the United States (or its territories, like Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands).
  • Birth Certificates: Some airlines, however, may require proof of age for lap-seat infants. In this case, we recommend packing a birth certificate for your children just in case.

A young boy plays with legos on his airplane tray table during a flight. If you're wondering about Allegiant Airlines policies for kids, onboard entertainment is usually sparse.

If you’re flying Allegiant Airlines with kids, here are some important tips to keep in mind!

  • First, pack some snacks and drinks for the kids so they don’t get hungry or thirsty during the flight.
  • Regarding entertainment for your kids, it’s a good idea to bring along some portable toys or games they can enjoy during the flight.
  • Make sure you have diapers and wipes on hand in case of an accident, and bring along any medications your children take regularly.
  • If your child gets restless, let them move around the cabin every few hours. Also, try to schedule your flight around their natural sleep schedule.
  • Finally, remember to hydrate during the flight by drinking plenty of water or juice. And bring along a travel pillow and blanket for each child to keep them comfortable!

Best Snacks To Carry On An Allegiant Airlines Flight With Kids

If you’re flying on Allegiant Airlines with kids, you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of snacks on hand. The best snacks to carry on an Allegiant flight with kids are ones that are easily portable and not too messy. Instead, opt for healthier choices like fruit, granola bars, or veggie sticks. If you’re looking for something a little sweeter, we recommend packing some mini cookies or pretzels. And don’t forget the drinks! Water is always a good choice, but you might also want to pack some juice boxes or milk for the littlest ones. You’ll also want to avoid anything that is likely to melt or spoil in the heat of the aircraft cabin.
