For one, it’s absolutely breathtaking – the lake itself is 26 miles long and fed by three waterfalls, making it one of the highest elevated lakes in the state. It’s hard to find a more perfect vacation destination than Fontana Lake. Set in the stunning Great Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina, this lake is one of the best in the state for a family vacation. For one, the scenery is breathtaking, thanks to its magnificent emerald-green waters. And there are plenty of activities to keep everyone in the family entertained.

Fontana Lake is 29 miles long, making it perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, and just about any other water-based activity you can think of.
